Something tells me this is not the only such spot hidden down random hallways at Animal Kingdom Lodge. Even setting this aside (which is an odd, arbitrary thing to do), Animal Kingdom Lodge would rank near the top of Walt Disney World’s resorts. This is thanks to the rich theming throughout Jambo House. Animal Kingdom Lodge is one part stunning design crafted by the Imagineers and one part authentic pieces on display, including the largest African art collection in the United States. In a resort where every functional design element also manages to reinforce theme, that’s important. Jambo House’s rooms really offer the best of both words, in my estimation.

Considering the room and excellent experience at Animal Kingdom Lodge, I’d recommend staying there with a large group. Of course, there are cheaper places to stay and splitting the group up into rooms may end up being more cost effective. But if you want to stay all together and on-site then the 2-bedroom villa at Jambo House is a fantastic choice. I’m sure there’s some deep-cut backstory explaining the significance of these subtle thematic tweaks, but it’s probably not going to be obvious to the average guest. Now, being close to Magic Kingdom or Epcot is the “big deal” for most Walt Disney World guests. Those new offerings should tip the scale towards Animal Kingdom a bit more, especially until the “new attraction smell” of the rides in Pandora wears off.

Both pools have poolside activities throughout the day, so be sure to check your activities calendar when you check in to see what activities are running and when. If you are looking to secure a Savanna View Villa, the animals you will see will vary depending on where your room is located within the resort. At Kidani Village, you can see the animals that roam on the Pembe Savanna and Sunset Savanna, and at Jambo House, you can see the animals that roam on the Sunset Savanna, Arusha Savanna, and Uzima Savanna.
This is an excellent restaurant — and is very underrated — therefore it’s usually easy to snag a reservation. The Resort’s Quick Service restaurant, Mara is open morning to night and offers great food and poolside dining. Thanks at least in part to this, Animal Kingdom Lodge has developed a reputation as the hotel at which you stay when you want a Walt Disney World trip that emphasizes the resort rather than the parks. It’s a lot like Aulani (Disney’s Resort in Hawaii) in that regard, as a destination unto itself with so much to see and do that you won’t feel you’re missing anything by staying in the resort.
Disney's bus service is free but slow, and will probably require you to use an intermediate destination like Disney Springs, to get to your destination. And that can take a couple of hours each way if you're unluckly. Disney hotels have gifts shops near their lobbies with a decent collection of Disney-branded souvenirs. You will also find basic pharmacy items such as sunscreen, aspirin, allergy and cold medicine, baby diapers and formula, shampoo, and the like. Resort hotels with Deluxe Villa rooms offer an assortment of groceries, as well. We had a savannah view on the Zebra Trail side instead of the Arusha Savannah.
